Lysine is an amino acid that is most known for preventing and treating cold sores (herpes simplex virus). It helps with the severity of outbreaks and the frequency with which they occur. Lysine may also assist calcium absorption, which is important for strong, healthy bones.

90% of adults carry the herpes simplex virus and 1 in 3 have recurrent cold sores1.

The body in unable to synthesise lysine, and hence it must be consumed through the diet. The main dietary sources of lysine are red meat, chicken, eggs, dairy products, beans, nuts & seeds.

Roughly 1g of Lysine is required for therapeutic benefits to be recognised.
